YOUTHFORCRUST INTERVIEW

INTERVIEW DONE BY PATRICK VERANO
for ChronicoreZine#7
sometime in 2006 !

1.what the hell does xyxfxcx stands for dude? aren't you guys got that name from a pastoral club?

Coni:

1st and foremost...i would like to introduce the Kids.... YFC is formed by 5 friends sharing the love of playing Fast Music. The Kids are Comprised of Drigo and Vincent on drunk vocals, guttwrenching screeches & fucked remarks, Mad Cao is stinking on his Bass and contributes to some noise conception, Coni is to blame for creating hipnotic noise with
Guitars and XJohnX is assighned as our Battering Drummer.

we all hail from the same shithole named Pag-Asa here in Imus, Cavite.

Some consider us Drugaddicts but were not all that. yes 4 of us takes alot of alcohol and drugs, yet we wont count out our straightedge drummer.

YFC?...youth for Clit!!! nyahahaha... thats why we named it after a Pastoral club so some religious people wont discriminate us. and think of the Respect we'll get from Religious groups. hahahaha!!! we were just playing with names... we would have named our band Just4Fun but the Christ gave us the Permission to use YFC.

Cao: YxFxCx stands for Youth For Crust.. I think, Warconi or/and Clyde could answer why Youth For Crust.

Drigo: Actually & Unfortunately it stand by your sick but initially it stands for "Youth4Crust". no we got our name accidentally.

2.how and where did you guys met? Who influenced you all to play and participate in this kind of scene? And who were the bands that inspired you all to make this xyxfxcx happen?

Drigo: We all met by destiny but eventually were all in the same neighborhood; Mary Jane is the main influence. Its not the band that inspired us but the alphabet that YFC is Originated from.

Cao: We live in the same neighborhood and we belong in a big circle of friends. Each of us have his own personal influences which brought us here together in the scene. YxFxCx's influences are Charles Bronson, What Happen's next, Spazz, some local bands like Aggressive Dog Attack and a lot more..

Coni: were all good friends and we all live and hang out in the same area. skateboarding is a big influence on them. I dont skate I just amusingly watched them from the sidelines smoking Dope, waiting for someone to get some air or getting neck breaking asphalt dive. The kids listen to a lot of What Happens Next?, Charles Bronson, Spazz, Capitalist Casualties, the oath and Yes, Slayer!!! Thus forming a strong pact. the rest of the guys I hooked up just because of drugs and alcohol.

3.are you all into drinking and taking mind altering substances?..

Drigo: Were just into drinking but were the drunk kings. Metamorpisis and Mary Jane, the double "M" in our lives except for our Drummer

Coni: Only Marijuana and Alcohol... no methamphetamines for me... is sex considered a mind altering substance???

Cao: Obviously the lyrics tackle more about on drugs, reality and Drigo's personal experiences in life. John Doe doesn't drink alcohol, doesn't smoke nor take drugs. Other than him, YxFxCx kids love beer and we smoke our insides.

4.how is driggo and his brigade doing nowadays?i heard he has dis alias of clyde?

is that his way of protecting his identity for some legal reasons?

Drigo:we are still recruiting new members or my brigade but were always still alive and moshing. For the record is just a split personality vice versa as Drigo. Drigos identity is protected by the Priory Of Sion.

Cao: HA!HA! I don't know what exactly Clyde A.K.A Drigo is doing nowadays aside from doing drugs everyday and getting drowned with alcohol as he fuckin' always. Maybe he stays with his family and raise his daughter..

Coni: Well, Drigo's name is Clyde. i think the one that named him Drigo was Mike Heart, The Termulator, coz when we were having a lot of gin at my place, clyde showed us his licence and we were laughing to our heart's content. Mike said "Drigong Drigo! parang huhulihin ka aagad pag nakita to ng Pulis" he's Picture looked like a generic drug addict straight from a pinoy action movie. well Drigo is A good Villain name by the way, doncha think?... nyahahahaha... that day Rodrigo Rodriguez was named.

5.i know hardcore punk/crust made a major influence to you guys..but were there

any other musical influences that made you guys create these trippy, catchy songs?

i mean were there any christina aguilera, britney or some pop shit that drove you to write those songs?

Cao: I'm gonna leave this question to Drigo. He might answer this question much better.

Drigo: Christina & Aguillerra and Britney are just our sexual influenced. But every member has its own influenced.

Coni: cum to think of it, id love to fuck those 2 pop sensations and record em on film and sell it to pirates. nah we just drank a lot of gin and Red horse. Plus the Hardcore/Punk Music we love to listen to. the Catchy Lyrics are Drigo's work. he's so wasted, he even got arrested for looking like a drugpusher of sorts, Illegal Face.hahaha.

this is Drigo's and Vincent's line of work. i only provide the fast guitar riffs. i Thank Drugs and alcohol, they are the greatest influence, 80% of us.

6.you know, i did some a little research on you guys and i learned that some of you guys, together with some of the nuclear punishers members, are in thesame college university. So how do you guys beat the crap out of school? do students there in your college university knew that you all are underground rock superstars? :-)

Drigo: long long time ago in a university far away. We Beat the crap out of them, we are still like Gods but not in a Rock superstar way.

Cao: We're just some ordinary college students. We go to school just to learn. only some of our closest school buddies know we're into this kind of stuff and we don't act like some underground rock superstars co'z we are really not.

Coni: i already Finished school, 7yrs of just pissing of professors and student councils. well its safe to say School is alot of fun but come to think of it you just dont need them. Self educate can suffice. reading and hands on experience is enough . Education and researching doesnt require you to pay thousands of pesos. the only thing i miss is the Girls in class, the Constant cheating on exams, smoking marijuana in the campus grounds, kicking Fraternity asses, drinking and fucking girls from other schools and the library(lots of free stuff, if you know what i mean). the only thing i hated in school was those fucking uniforms.

7.you guys are insane! very versatile and flexible and i don't complain on that. so how's it like playing in different circles of metal/crust/punk/hardcore gigs? where do

you feel more comfortable and fun? does hardcore appeal to you than metal?

Drigs: We never mind any gig whenever its hardcore/crust/punk or metal we just love to drink drunk punk everytime. When theres a gig and smoke weed everyday.

Cao: We really love to play with different kinds of crowd so, we will play anytime, anywhere as long as they want us to.. Drigo's word will continue to spread.

Coni: yea we've played with a lot of other scenes and places other than our local area of Cavite. i guess, yeah were flexible of sorts. and its fun it you think about it. Its Great to play at Metal scene Gigs, thanx to alot of metalhead friends and correspondents. and by playing in deifferent scenes we got to get to meet a lot of new people and make friends. Well, Hardcore/Punk and Metal really aint that different from each other, both are extreme and fun. We support the mixing of such scenes like what Roel Mores of Tripalium Zine is doing with the Rural Carnage shows to Mix the Mowhaks/Skinheaded HC/Punks and longhaired black donning Metal heads. the more diversity the better so the whole underground scene wont get lame and stagnant. A lot of respect is given by both scenes, Respect & Support matters a lot in the Underground scene.Did you guys also knew that weve been playing alot on Cavite City Kiddie Parties? the Cavite city Scene is somewhat comprised of a lot of kids nowadays. thay just lack the Hardcore/punk DIY Knowhows and ethics. A lot of education about the UG scene is needed. a lot of Rip-offs and Capitilism still rules there, stagnant sounds, thou some bands play their own songs, some still plays Cloned styles of their idols or they act like the bands they see on MTv. Thats why we want to play there to educate them (or to give them a culture shock they deserve)a bit that HardCore/punk is Fun and doing it DIY style is more than more fun...

8.if you would be given a chance to play in a band who plays brutal "disco" style gore,

would you grab it?

Drigs: no

Cao: Nope.

Coni:does it require us to play with Synthesizers and keyboards? no one in the band knows how to play those. for me ill stick to the Play Fast or Die attitude. i think Disco Gore wont fit in at all for me. I love Fast Aggressive music. we played with a band called pentavia and they sucked coz their drumbeats are somewhat pertaining to disco beats that dominates the nu metal scene in cavite and manila and the radio. there alot of Bands weve played with that fuses discobeats. well ithink this would appeal to the Female species but i wouldnt dare to think of doing it if it would compromise my love for Fast shit.

9.you guys have strong communications with rhe T4C mafia. I wonder, do they treat you with respect considering that they are sooooo furious about their straight edge movement? so how was that?

Drigs: long hair, short hair it all fits straightedge, curve edge its all the same.

Cao: Yes they do and we also respect them. Take 4 people are really good-hearted persons. They really are good friends of ours.

Coni: were all good friends with them so theres no problem. we are drunkasses and Druggies with a Fun Attitude. We dont Piss(that much) a lot of people in the scene. Our Drummer is Straightedge so we dont fuck with the sXe kids in the scene and even the T4C mafia. think of it, 4 of us druggies and a sXe drummer... how diversified we are. hehehe

all that matters is Friendship and Music. The T4C crew are old Buddies of ours so theres no misunderstanding on beliefs and lifestyles. respect for ones opinion dominates. ok nga yun e minsan nagfofood not bombs sila, yun yung direct action mostly ng mga sXe freinds. at dilang T4C na mga tropa ang straightedge, madami yan, kalatkalat. tropa naman e.

the only sucky part is that some people diss and disrespects bands/persons for their beliefs and lifestyles. I just hate Drunkasses acting like some oldschooler know-it-alls picking on kids new to the scene...hey guys we werent born all as we were, let the kids Have some fun!!!

10.amazingly,your song "ugat ng karahsan" has become the anthem of the crust/punk/hardcore kids. even metal heads like to singalong with you guys. how did you guys cameup with that song?

Drigs: its just a political song I dont know why they sing along with this, maybe because they can relate to what re are singin. I dont really know.

Cao: A rush product. Warconi did the Ugat ng Karahasan guitar riff on the same day we recorded the 7 songs for the compilation "This is CAVITE NOT L.A" with TAKE 4.
<BR>Coni:dont blame me, Blame Drigo and the rest of the guys...i wash off my hands on this topic. Hahahahaha nursery rhyme kasi ata talaga ung dating. Prang twinkle twinkle little slut. I just Made a 3 chord riff and a 2 chord riff for the fast shit wala e medyo kastama at pang psychedelic kasi yung gusto kong ingay nun parang pang pahilo. May kakambal yung kanta, yung Verum Song, its a 2 chord song and deals with drugs. Parang ang ugat ng kasamaan ay maiibsan lamang ng Droga. Hahaha combo lagi yun sa mga gigs naming pang praning kasi. E si Clyde praning hahahaha

11.just curious..is xYxFxCx's line up today consists of still original founding members?

Drigo: Yes and still Fighting for what we think is right and wrong.

Cao: John Doe and I weren't able to play with them during the YxFxCx's debut gig at DasmariƱas, Cavite.(Jegulo's Party).

Coni: Madami talaga kami, tropa talaga ang YFC since September 21, 2002. we let friends jam with us on gigs if ever one is absent or just plain wasted...Debut nga namin kami lang, clyde on vox, me on guitars and Vincent on Drums.. We are still The Kids from hell. minsan umuwi si drigo sa Cebu kaya si vicent yung pressed kumanta, minsan nakikanta narin ako para maingay. Minsan si Drigo lang wala si Vincent. Pero syempre pag pwede lahat, syempre mas masarap tumugtog ng lahat kayo andun, para kahit kainin si drigo ng moshpit tuloy tuloy parin ang ligaya.

12.i heard you guys are on the planning stage of releasing new shits? so what can we

expect on the next album of the xYxFxCx army?

Drigo: Someday well know, expect the un expected!!!

Cao: Unfortunately, we have insufficent funds. We are now accepting donations. (paging sponsors)

Coni: well weve been listening to alot of stuff now, back then i was drowned in What Happens Next and Charles Bronson, so we developed a Fun and Crusty style.. now ive been listening to alot of metal bands, thou i started from being a metal head, i guess a lil dash of metal wont hurt, ok just a bit. and to add up ive been listening to this Straightedge band called Good Clean Fun lately so i guess more of a Simple HC/Punk riffs pertaining to happy thoughts so it sounds fun to mosh to and so its energetic for us to play.and yes a lot of the still not so positive lyrics.

13.alrighty there! thanks for answering my silly questions! i hope you found my questions interesting!! much respect to the xYxFxCx kids!! specially of course, to you

BURAWIS! hehe.. now would you like to send some shout outs and guttural thanks to the people you missed to thank?

Drigo: Thanx to Da Vinci Code fro making me realize that we are all aliens.

Cao: SALAMAT!

EATING SHIT [France] - "Paradox" Album Review
Chronicore Zine 2012

No comparison whatsoever but for the sickos out there just imagine yourself not playing with your balls but cruising along to the aggressiveness of those awesome legendary grindcore bands like Napalm Death with the added twist of listening to Solstice, just highlight the vocal parts minus the long guitar solos, replace with fast-phased grinding guitar tracks, some additional kick-ass samplers, and there you have it, a quick insight of this pure mind-blowing experience straight from France. Eating Shit's 24-tracks Paradox album is a killer must-have for grindcore freaks. The quality of the recording is great, and there is no question about the musicianship, this is no doubt a well-done job, pursuing artistry in the highest realm.

INDARKPURITY ZINE INTERVIEW
Chronicore Zine 2013

CHRONIC GREETINGS ! PLEASE TELL US YOUR NAME AND THE DETAILS OF YOUR ZINE.
- Hail Chronicore 'zine! Alex here of In Dark Purity 'zine. In Dark Purity 'zine is the embodiment of my passion for the music I love. The 'zine is in the traditional photocopied and stapled on the side format that features Underground Metal bands that I'm into.

WHAT  MOTIVATED YOU TO START PUBLISHING YOUR OWN ZINE?
- I just wanted to do more than just buying records and merchandise to support the bands that I'm into so I decided to do a 'zine.

HOW DID YOU COME OUT WITH THE NAME OF YOUR ZINE?
- My passion for Undergrond Metal is in dark purity!

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH A THEME FOR YOUR ZINE?
- Death Metal is the subgenre of Metal that I love the most which is why I mostly feature Death Metal in my 'zine.

WHAT ZINES INSPIRES YOU?
- There are a lot of 'zines that inspired and continue to inspire me, but In Dark Purity 'zine will not exist if it weren't for The Grimoire Of Exalted Deeds 'zine. Bill Zebub is God!

CAN YOU STILL REMEMBER YOUR VERY FIRST ROMANCE WITH A ZINE?  WHAT ZINE WAS IT?
- I honestly can't remember the very first 'zine I got my hands on, but for the first Metal 'zine, it's an issue of The Grimoire Of Exalted Deeds 'zine. My life was never the same after reading it. I love the 'zine's sarcasm and brutal sense of humor.

WHEN DID YOUR ZINE'S FIRST ISSUE COME OUT?
- I'm poor with dates, but it was most probably around 2000.

HOW MANY ISSUES HAVE YOU PUBLISHED SO FAR?
- I'm lazy. I have released six issues so far and I hope it's not the last!

IS YOUR ZINE FOR SALE/NOT FOR SALE/FOR TRADE?
- All of the above, but I prefer to trade it with amateur porn or panties of your significant other.

HOW DID YOU GET IT OUT THERE?
- Like the music that I support. I spread the 'zine to relevant channels in the underground.

WHO WAS THE FIRST BAND/PEOPLE YOU INTERVIEWED? HOW?
- The first band I interviewed was Internal Bleeding. I've been a fan of the band since the beginning and I have been in contact with Chris Pervelis for a long time and asked him if he would be down for an interview and he said yes. It was an honor.

HOW DO YOU GATHER AND ROUND UP CONTRIBUTORS?
- I don't because I do everything, but windows, hahaha! In Dark Purity 'zine is a reflection of my passion and I want it to be pure which is why I don't ask for contributions. The only contribution I have is in the sixth issue. Maija The Goatess sent me a story that fed my sick desires so I decided to publish it.

IT WAS A VERY LONG STRUGGLE, HOW HAVE YOUR POLICIES TOWARDS ADVERTISING AND REVIEWS CHANGED THROUGH OUT THIS YEARS?
- Indeed. Every issue is a struggle. As far as advertisement is concerned, I only publish the ones that has relevance to the music. I still love what I loved before and still hate what I hated before so my reviews will still be the same.

YOUR GOALS?
- To be able to release an issue whenever I can even if it takes me years to finish.

YOU ALSO HAVE YOUR OWN LABEL, CAN YOU ALSO SHARE THE DETAILS WITH US?
- I established Berdugo Records to further support the bands that I'm into. The label is dedicated exclusively to release records of bands from the Philippines.

As of this writing, we are preparing to release the Pus Vomit's "Stoned To Death" EP which should be out by January 2013 and Death After Birth and Surrogate Prey are currently recording at Demiurge Digital for the split CD.

WHERE CAN THE READERS CONTACT YOU?
- Light a candle in front of the mirror and say my name three times. You may contact me at:

TOXEMIA INTERVIEW 2012

toxic hails metalheads! it's been a long time, how's Toxemia?

Kenneth(Drums) : All is well here in the toxemia camp. We are working on 2 new songs and resurrecting old tracks from the past years. We are hoping that we will be able to record it before the end of the year....

Corix(Guitars) : Yeah, it’s been a long time, man! It was 2008 to be exact the last time we smoke and drink with Ron Taitax in Olongaporn City, I missed Anus De Satanus and the fuckin’ Defecated! But hey! You motherfucker! What kind of drugs you take and you interview us just now??? Seems like you don’t like us before eh???!!! Hehehe!

Ron(Vocals) : 7long blasthorn!!!!!!!!!boooooooom!!!!! Evil drunkard! How are you anus? Eto medyo busy parin kapiraso, haha! Sana sang araw kita kita ulit tayo nina evil Erwin tas sabay natin tatalunin ung malaking butas sa zoo,,,na maraming nag aabang na mga gutom na lion or buwaya hahaha. me plano kami magrecord ng kapiraso kap..cguro bago mag end of tha world or abandoned ship haha

Any new materials, releases, gigs?

Kenneth : So far we are working on 2 new songs. the content will be a surprise to the listeners (if there is any haha).we are focusing ourselves more on making compositions, so far no ideas of any release is being planned. Latest gig will be Masticating Cavite II.

Corix : The full length of corpse! Early 2013.

Toxemia's integrity in the ug scene is undeniably respectable, what keeps your batteries going throughout these years?

Kenneth : Well all in all this is corix's evil ideas. As you have observed, we've been on and off the scene since the day it all started. Even the early days when I was not yet a member of Toxemia, I follow their path to alcoholocaustic exile so I know that they've been on and off the scene. I may not be the one who was suppose to answer this but knowing the 3 original members, what keeps them on the pits of fire of the underground scene is the passion for it. What keeps us underground is the ideology we all share.

Corix : Ever since from the start, the band knows where we stand and that is “Underground” some members before, come and go, it’s because they can’t accept the fact that we are truly dedicated to “Underground” 666%. The old bands, zines, labels and any underground individuals that are still active nowadays keeps us inspired, and of corpse our passion in the U.G.

I got the chance to jam onstage with you guys in Valenzuela back in 2005 or was it in early 2006 damn my memory suck, I just like to tell you it was a total blast hell yeah

Kenneth : Corix must answer this

Corix : That was 2005, yeah! Fuckin’ hell yeah! How would I forgot that moment, it was I guess, the very first time Toxemia had a crowd that went apeshit moshing, plastic chairs and tables were thrown out and been fucked up by drunk crowd, the bar was total fuckin’ destruction, a big guy that we named “Hawk” fuckin’ owns the pit, ahahaha! Thanx for the memories you shared back in the days, man!

Toxemia is the evil spawn of the very very lonely lunatic one-man band a.f.m., i fckng hate that band hehe how do you sickos met, and can you still remember your first gig stint

Kenneth : Its better if you will ask the lonely guy himself haha...anyway, I became a member of toxemia back in Oct 4 2008. That was my first gig with them, drunk and wasted. But it was one hell of a show haha.

Corix : Toxemia’s very first gig was way back 2003 at Cavite Assault gig in Maragondon, Cavite with the original line up, originally, members are from the neighborhood, it keeps on changing until 2005, Vic and Erwin from the mighty Pathogen came in until 2008, and yeah ,that was Kenneth’s first gig with us, it was For The Sake of The Sick 1, and then we met Cryster filling up Erwin’s place on lead guitar.

Define toxemia's music back then and describe toxemia's sound now

Kenneth : Corix must answer this

Corix : I really don’t like to describe our music because maybe it will find confusing to people who have already listened to us, and I also don’t like some tagging like “Old School”, “In The Vein of” Metal sounding, blah blah blah! Because I don’t like that strategy either, that becomes a fuckin’ trend already! So I would simply call it “Dunkcore Grind” back then and more Drunkeness Grind/Metal now! Ahahaha!

Do you still play on punk crusties gigs?

Kenneth : Of course, so far the last show where we shared stage with an old friend from boxwagon was at skate rock in laguna. thanxxx to Vic and pathogen for that wonderful show, we got wasted....

Corix : I really missed playing on punk crusties gig, Toxemia back in the days belongs to that scene, when we were some kind of a bit political before that believes the concept of Anarchism, I lost in contact in that scene since I lost the activities that I like to be involve before, I have some political views, but it is nothing if I don’t have some action, so I just leave it to them. And as far as our music evolvement is concern, we want to be lined up on punk gig, that’s what we always wanted, because we are still punk at heart!

Cavite's ug scene is so much active nowadays, can you give us an insight on this, are you guys unified or other factions exist and have their own separate scene?

Kenneth : Actually the scene in Cavite area is however unified. people supports their local acts in many different ways. If there are any other factions, we really do not have an idea on what they are planning or what kind of scene are they doing?

Corix : Yes, there is a separate scene here in Cavite, a scene that has a look alike faces with Pulp, a scene that dreamt for Fame and Money, and to be signed on major labels, a scene that knows nothing about Fanzine and a scene that are practicing the DIY ethics that we call “Underground”…the scene in Cavite never been inactive ever since from the early 2000’s, the early 2k scene in my observation was the strongest scene in my opinion, there are lots of bands and gigs before than today, and mostly done in a squat place not in a bar! I really feel the DIY ethics 10 years ago.

What bands are active now in Cavite that we should look out for?

Kenneth : excommunicated, flash elorde, nuclear punishment, tsimpayne, pus vomit ..for me here are the bands who are working their asses to bust people's brains out.

Corix : There’s also Censorshit, Grind Matador, The Squat, State of Calamity, Phlegm Thrower, Herpes, Anal Fissure, Distorted Anger and many more that I forgot at the moment.

Do party poopers and banakal assholes still exist and prey on gigsters in Cavite? Such acts of violence are serious and annoying...

Kenneth : it is indeed really annoying. This is something that we cannot control though. They are the locals as well. If ever that it will be your first time to attend to a show in Cavite and you get caught up in the middle of a troubles with the locals and you got your ass busted.....that is one way they say "welcome to the south bitch!!!!!"bammm!!!!

Corix : Looks like your ass been bust out here in Cavite before eh???!!! Ahahaha!

How about those glorified versions of hagibis, bands who play for fashion to attract the girls, do we still have them in the scene?

Kenneth : hahaha...you will no longer identify them...they walk among us. watch out!!!!

Corix : Every place has this kind of bands, man! We can’t avoid that!

I can’t attend gigs now and its fucking killing me, am I missing a lot? Do foreign bands still visit us, or were most of them being sponsored by mainstream productions?

Kenneth : The last band that came here that was organized by a true underground legionnaire was Pukelization. I had a great time during that show. Yes I agree, you are on the right page of the news. Most of the foreign bands now are being organized by those pigs.

Corix : You’ve missed a lot already, better get yah ass off now! Hehehe, seriously, yeah! Insane Bazooka is one of the production that I hail!

Any chance of toxemia hooking up a gig down south, davao maybe, or perhaps out of the country?

Kenneth : If someone will invite us why not...it will be an honor to intoxicate all the audience haha!!!! Outside the country is something big....if they will let us why not.

Corix : Outside the country would way too far, we’re not good musicians live, but what the fuck! This is not a competition, this is fuckin’ underground! Why not, if someone would!…hehe!

What's your typical day like besides being drunk, getting wasted, and playing each other’s balls ahahaha just kidding... do you guys work and pay taxes?

Kenneth : For me, I am working to support my needs and family (mom and sis).taxes is a part of it so the government can't say anything against me for I am still paying their lousy asses. I am also the chief editor of Eargasm zine. Now working on my 3rd issue, damn three years in the making eh....

Corix : I have a very small business just to support my son’s need, I don’t pay taxes!!!

Crime rate is high, any recent chopped bodies found in your area?

Kenneth : On where I am living now(taguig), yes. gun shooting on waiting sheds became a trend. reports are saying that those dead man are considered holdapers being gunned down by civilian police. Still, we do not know the truth behind it. On our local areas in Cavite, so far no news of any rotten body parts found on the sidewalks hehe.

Corix : Just in our area Naic, Cavite, a woman’s body were found, not being chopped but it has gun shots and been raped, a week later a gang member’s body were found dead in the same spot…this is Cavite, man!

Death threats to anyone?

Kenneth : Thanxxx to you my friend for letting us be a fart of your zine. To all the fiends, Imps, demons and gorgoyles who is along side with us on our battle and struggle to keep this scene going. Horns up goes to you!!! To the false supporters, money makers and ass kissers who uses this scene for their bullshit a big fuck you!!!! Goes to you!!!

Where can we contact toxemia?

Kenneth : On the south...follow the wind where the smoke is green and the rhum is flowing...just kidding .

Last very important question, any chance of kicking taitax out very soon? hahaha tnx & adios amigos!

Kenneth : Can't do that he is the axe man of the camp...both axe man for woman and axe man to axe you up...taitax axe!!!!!!

Corix : hahahaha! Taitax will kick you out on Defecated! Hehe! Thanx man! See you soon, fucker!

286 INTERVIEWED
CHRONICOREZINE#6
Mar 7, 2006

1. HOW LONG HAVE 286 BEEN GOING NOW? WHAT MOTIVATED
YOU TO START A BAND, AND HOW MANY BANDS HAVE YOU BEEN
IN?

NIKEE: WE STARTED WITH THE PROJECT IDEA IN 2002 AND LAST YEAR WE COMPLETED THE LINE UP. BASICALLY WE STARTED A BAND BECAUSE WE LIKE TO PLAY MUSIC ON STAGE AND SHARE OUR MUSIC AND ENERGY WITH THE CROWD.

Martin: 286 has been on the road for 14 months now and the project was originally conceived by my brother Nikee and myself after moving to LA from Argentina. I had a vision about the band that I'd like to be part of, the problem was that there is no singers like Adam in my country, so that motivated us to move to the States and form a new band. I can't recall how many bands I was in before, but trust me, a lot.

Adam: I don't know if lack of singers like me is a good or bad thing, "singing" is a gross overestimation of what I do (laughs)

Pete - I've been in 3 serious bands. Pivot(metal/crazy) out of Boston, a blues band in Boston, and The Magnet in Los Angeles. Then I met these crazy asses and it was on.

2. WHICH BANDS HAVE INFLUENCED YOU, AND WHO ARE YOU
INTO AT THE MOMENT?

Martin: Influences are always tricky and sometimes we create a pre-concept of what we sound like when we tell people what our influences are. We all come from different backgrounds and the mix of all those elements creates what 286 is. Call it rock, metal, punk rock, blues, my girlfriend's name doesn't make her cuter or uglier.

Pete - Black Label Society, saw them in Hollywood a couple of months ago, amazing, they kicked your ass the whole show and Devildriver, saw them open for Gwar at the keyclub a week after we played there, that drummer kills!

Adam: I've been influenced in some way probably by everything I've ever heard. I'm a big lyrics person so I always like good honest lyrics- I don't care what they're about, but generic love songs turn my stomach. As influences, it ranges from Public Enemy, Bruce Springsteen, to Black Flag to Hank Williams Jr. There's so many people so good at what they do. Right now I've been into the Nightwatchmen, Thin Lizzy, George Thorogood and rediscovering Op Ivy Martin, Pete, and Nikee have had me listen to some Bonn Scott AC/DC too, I really wasn't that familiar with a lot of it other than "Highway to Hell." So this whole hodge poge is loaded up in my iPod ready for consumption.

NIKEE: A LOT OF BANDS, MAYBE A LOT OF THEM IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND STYLES, BUT JUST TO NAME A COUPLE LET'S SAY VAN HALEN, AC/DC, IRON MAIDEN

3. PLEASE GIVE US 286'S DISCOGRAPHY....

Martin: Just the EP "Profiled" (2005)

4. YOU DEFINED YOUR MUSIC AS "RETRO-CORE", COULD YOU
EXPLAIN IT TO US?

Pete - We like to get to the point, it must be the east coast in us, and Argentina is east coast, the attitude at least. What's the point of rock music? TO ROCK, no long intros, extending solos, just balls to the wall.

Adam: Basically, 286, for us, combines all the elements we like about rock music. In the past several years, the "industry" pretty much turned it's back on good straight forward rock music. So that driving guitar rock sound is where we get the "retro" element. The "Core" part comes from the new school aggressive sort of vocal delivery. It's just really hard rock though, no matter how you spin it.

5. HOW MANY SHOWS DID YOU PLAY (A ROUGH ESTIMATE WILL
DO) AND HOW MANY COUNTRIES DID YOU GET TO?

Adam: Last year was the first year for 286 and we pretty much stayed in the US but flirted with the border of Mexico. Martin and Nikee made it to Israel to do an acoustic show that wasn't 286 related, but overall, we played over 50 shows and hit several U.S. States in our traveling van of chaos! It was a good year for a new band.

Pete - only one country last year but we will be going south, way south sooner or later.

6. WHAT WERE THE HIGHPOINTS AND THE LOWPOINTS OF 286
AS FAR AS YOU WERE CONCERNED?

Martin: For me there were no low points because even from the 'low points' you can learn something which automatically turns the low point into a high point. And the high point for me was to have the others guys in 286 playing along.

NIKEE: MAYBE WE DIDN'T FIND THE RIGHT MANAGER YET, BUT THE HIGH POINTS ARE SO MANY...WE ARE WHAT WE ARE AND OUR MUSIC SHOWS THAT ENERGY. NO STUPID POSING JUST FOR THE MARKET AND THE MONEY, JUST STRAIGHT ROCK POWER, NOT ROCK STAR BULLSHIT!!!

Pete - The highpoint was the brides show and our 1st house of blues show, moreso the Brides show b/c of the endless free beer!! And the awsome show! Lowpoint for me is still being chained down to a daytime job and not being able to give every minute to 286. That will change in time, its a transition.

7. THIS QUESTION IS FOR ADAM: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A
VEGETARIAN? WHAT PROMPTED SUCH A CHANGE IN DIET?

Adam: I am weird vegetarian. Basically, I came from a very poor rural area in southwestern PA where my whole family were hunters. The meat that we killed and processed ourselves could fill the entire freezer for the winter and leave left overs for other folks. For the most part, I could tell exactly what I was putting in my body. It was natural, not like a steroid pumped animal bread for slaughter in some mill. When music started to take up most of my time, I couldn't participate in the process anymore and I just stopped eating meat from restaurants or supermarkets because I didn't know where it came from. I'm ok with being away from that because I was a lousy "killer" anyway. There's not much hunting in LA.

Pete - this is Adam's question but I'd like to say for the record there is nothing better than a fat juicy steak.

8. IS VEGANISM THE IDEAL TO ASPIRE TO?

Martin: Whatever makes your body and soul feel better is the ideal.

Adam: I admire the discipline it takes to do it, but it's not something that I personally aspire towards.

9. ARE ANY OTHER MEMBERS OF THE 286 VEGETARIAN?

Adam: No they all do, I'm pretty sure that I would be the first person to be consumed by the other members of the band if we were stuck in the wild my big self would provide more meat than Martin, Nikee or Pete.

10. IS ANIMAL RIGHTS AN IMPORTANT CAUSE? DO YOU
SUPPORT THE ACTIONS OF THE ANIMAL LIBERATION FRONT
(ALF)?

Adam: Basic respect for all forms of life is a cause I support. I recognize that there are many ways to do that and though I don't know much about the ALF, I have seen other radical organizations that don't seem to take into account other ways of life. For example, I spent time with Lakota Sioux in South Dakota, these individuals come from a hunting culture where the animal was respected and revered, but was also part of their tribe's survival. I don't think it would be right for any vegetarian or activist to condemn their way of life anymore than it would be right for me to condemn a vegan for his/her beliefs. If we are all respecting all living creatures, then I think we are on the same team because a lot of people don't.

Martin: Every form of life on this planet has the right to live and I support that.

11. I HAVE READ ADAM THAT YOU ALSO DO FREELANCE
WRITING, WHAT PUBLICATIONS HAVE YOU CONTRIBUTED ON TO?

Adam: Anywhere that supports pinko left wing incendiary talk, seriously, I've done work for Blu Magazine (NY), Anti Flag's Underground Action Alliance (PA), I do the Myspace page and update the content for the Riverside page for Tom Morello and Serj Tankian's Axis of Justice program, A few newspapers in Southwestern PA, I served as the main editor for the Guerrilla Underground, Independent Media Centers, Mumia Abu Jamal.org, Pennsylvania Abolitionists, Prison Radio, and my thesis on the Zapatista Army of National Liberation is available through the college information exchange thing, I don't know what it's called. You get the point.

12. HAVE YOU HAD ANY SORT OF OFFERS FROM MAJOR LABELS,
OR APPROACHES FROM THEM OR ANYTHING?

Martin: We are pretty much a very young band. Unfortunately, major labels want you to do all the hard work before signing you, so the answer is no.

Adam: I really don't look at that as a goal but a consequence, if it happens it could be very helpful in getting the music to more folks but, there's plenty of bands that never signed to a major that have hit legendary status, Fugazi comes to mind.

NIKEE: WE COULDN'T FIND THE RIGHT DEAL YET, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT GONNA SELL OUR SOULS JUST BECAUSE OF WHAT THE INDUSTRY DICTATES.

13. WOULD YOU EVER DO ANY INTERVIEWS FROM ANY SORT OF
BIG MAGAZINES, OR LIKE THE MAINSTREAM ONES IN AMERICA?

Martin: Like I said before, we are a young band, same concept applies to big magazines. Fortunately, we have the support of indie magazines/zines/webzines and radio stations that are helping us to spread the word around the world, included the Philippines.

14. DO YOU THINK ITS BETTER COVERAGE AND STUFFS IN
ZINES OR WHAT?

NIKEE: THEY ARE A GREAT HELP FOR NEW BANDS, EVEN MORE WHEN THEY ARE INDEPENDENT

Martin: I think that more people are into zines and webzines nowadays than they were years ago. As much as major labels and big magazines are trying to persuade people about what is 'good' or 'bad,' they don't buy that shit so they go for the real thing.

Adam: There's definitely more freedom of content. I also think what comes out in Zines and the underground usually gets latched on to by the mainstream eventually. It eliminates the risk for them. I'm noticing a lot of rock zines and not just punk zines now. It makes sense, a lot of punk rock got watered down and commercialized and rock disappeared. Now rock bands are underground again, it's funny though, we get contacted by several zines a month wanting press kits and such, and 5 years ago very few publications would have touched a new band with guitar leads. I think we have Zines and support of the underground to thank for a lot we have got done as band in the past year.

15. ARE YOU GETTING ANYWHERE THE POINT WHERE YOU CAN
MAKE A LIVING OFF THE BAND, OR IS THAT TOO FAR OFF
YET?

Pete - Its a transition like I said earlier, could take a month, could take 5 years, we'll still be here!

Adam: It's within our grasp and I think that makes it that much harder. At the same time, it's also a great motivator to push us further. It's like being able to see your destination, but knowing that there's some traffic you have to navigate through before you get there.

16. ARE YOU STILL PRETTY MUCH A SORT OF D.I.Y. BAND?

Pete - No and Yes. Yes, in that we've done 90f the work to date. No, in that we couldn't of gotten the shows/help/push if it wasn't for all the people helping us, be it friends, booking agents or promoters. We are currently looking for management.

Martin: I would say so, not that we love it because sometimes is overwhelming, but until we find the right manager and label, we'll keep it that way.

17. WOULD YOU CONSIDER TOURING THE PHILIPPINES IN THE
FUTURE? WITH YOUR OWN TRAVEL EXPENSE?

Martin: We always try not to turn down any offer we have and we always love to play in front of new audiences so if the time is right for us, we would consider it.

Adam: I'm in.

NIKEE: WE WOULD LOVE TO DO THAT IF WE CAN AFFORT IT!

18. NOT THAT IM PULLING YOUR LEG, BUT I HAVE SEEN YOUR
VIDEO OF "OVERMAN" LIVE AT THE KEYCLUB (WHERE'S THIS
CLUB LOCATED?), AND ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT ALL OF YOU
ARE FUCKIN' SUPERB, AND ESPECIALLY MARTIN VERRY, THE
GUITARIST... AND THE SONG "PROFILED", THAT IS A
KILLER, MAN! THE GUITAR RIFF IS SO FUCKIN' AWESOME...
CAN HE TEACH US SOME COOL RIFFS HEHEHE....

Pete - Who is Martin Verry?

Martin: The club is located in West Hollywood on the world famous Sunset Strip, is one of the main Hollywood venues. As for the lesson, thanks for the compliment, here are some tips: get drunk and have fun, play from the heart and crank your amp all the way up.

Adam: He says that but he tries to hide his chops from me so I can't steal them, He watched Eddie Van Halen turn his back when he played eruption and now he thinks he has to do the same thing (laughs) I'm just kidding of course. For those not from the area, the Key Club is on the same strip as the Whiskey a Go Go, The Roxy, Rainbow, Viper Room, and House of Blues. It showcases national acts and some local bands, so it's a cool place to play.

19. DO YOU GUYS LOVE TO DRINK INTOXICATING STUFFS LIKE
BEERS, ALCOHOLS,ETC.. AND HAVE YOU TRIED TO ABUSE
YOURSELVES WITH CRACK, HEROIN, COCAINE,
MARIJUANA,ETC???

Martin: Personally, Im not into drugs at all but I like drinking.

Adam: I've tried everything, I don't say that as badge of coolness but just as a hint of honesty. I lost my best friend to a drug overdose and all I have left of him are some memories and this tattoo I got in his honor on my back. Anything is excess is bad, you have to check yourself and make sure that you're in control. I once stopped drinking for an entire year just to make sure I could.

NIKEE: I LIKE TO DRINK, NOT THE REST OF THAT SHIT!!!!!

Pete - Beer/Whiskey/Vodka, excellent!

20. WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST GIG HAVE YOU BEEN TO SO FAR?

Martin: We always have fun on stage and pretty much they are all crazy, but if I have to choose one I would say The House of Blues in Hollywood!

NIKEE: I GO FOR ONE THAT WE PLAYED AT THE BB.KING'S CLUB.......JESUS CHRIST WHAT A SHOW!!!!! JAJAJAJAJAJ

Adam: He's not saying that in a good way (laughs!) We turned the upstairs at The House of Blues into a 286 Den of Chaos, and the show was pretty good too! New Orleans was fun too and then there was this time we got booked in Southern Texas at a Crust Punk showIt's all just a crazy lifestyle, I highly recommend it if you like to travel like a gypsy and make no money.

21. WHAT OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT 286 WOULD YOU LIKE TO
SHARE WITH US?

NIKEE: ROCK IS NOT DEAD!!!!!!

Adam: In our spare time Martin and Nikee play classical flamenco guitar, I'm do an acoustic folk project, Pete has a Death Metal Project where every songs centers around road rage, our ..1 Stage manager, Hal, is a professional Ring Tone Maker, and our Roadie Ken is a secret spy for the CIA (that one isn't true but the rest are).

22. WHAT FUTURE PLANS DO YOU HAVE FOR 286? HOW CAN
PEOPLE GET HOLD OF YOUR RECORDS?

Martin: 286 is planning a set of tours during 2006 to support our EP "Profiled" and to spread the word as much as we can before finding the right folks to put out our full length. Visit us at www.286music.com or www.myspace.com/286music and there you can have all the info you need.

NIKEE:YEAH, PLAY MORE SHOWS, RECORD OUR FULL CD AND GET THE NEXT STEP INTO THE BUSINESS PLAYING OUR MUSIC, NOT PLAYING WHAT "THEY" WANT YOU TO PLAY

23. PLEASE ADD ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANNA SAY, AND THANX
286!

Martin: We wanna use this space to thank you for the support.

Pete - Stand up and shout! (Pete Says in reference to the move Rockstar)

Adam: (To Pete) That's horrible, no matter how good of actor that guy has become he will always be Marky Mark to meby the way, to reiterate Martin, thank you very much!

NIKEE: THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHRONIC REVIEWS

NOISE CONSPIRACY PROJECT [S/T] CDR PHILIPPINES
c/o Chuck Datuin 38 C. Raymundo Ave. Sagad, Pasig City 1600 Philippines
noiseconspiracyproject@yahoo.com / www.noiseconspiracyproject.tk / www.myspace.com/noiseconspiracyproject13

Out of the ashes of local grindcore monster Condemned, arises this equally lethal offshoot. Apparently, mastermind Chuck Datuin decided to form NxCxProject after Condemned was "split in half" and eventually put on hold due to various reasons. This 20 track straight-up live recording actually features tracks written for Condemned so those familiar with their previous material can expect violent alcohol fueled DIS-plays of crustpunk and grrrindcore. A definite must-have for fans of Swedish crust/hardcore, proto grinders like ENT, Abalienation, SOB (
Japan), early Napalm Death and Agathocles whose song Hippie Cult was covered here along with a track by Warsore. Unlike the last Condemned release Armed Conflict, which featured some clean singing, this one maintains the savage dual throat molestation all throughout. Song topics still tackle with socially relevant issues, but don't label them "political" as the 13th track will shatter any possible misconceptions. I raise a bottle of strong beer in salute to these guys. Brian for No Bullshit! Zine

286 "Profiled" (USA) CD
hearing 286 music was like being transported back in time when good ol' rock n' roll reigns. But hey, RNR is not dead and I myself believe this, so expect the same intensity as those major bands could offer coz' this guys truly rocks and oh by the way, being a frustrated guitarist myself, I wish I was Martin Verry. COUP THE GRACE "Death to mankind" (Phil) CDR
I felt like im in trance hearing the gorgeous voice of the group's lady vox, and the sludgy clean guitar riff of Corix the Hunk, and the other instruments as well my daydreaming stopped when they finally goes upbeat on the preceeding tacks. Its nicer if they stayed on their goth-styled influence, sort of a doom,sludgy-driven one. But hey, this is the underground scene, everyones free to do whatever they like to do so I salute this guys for their effort in coming up with this demo. An2

DOWN FROM THE WOUND [PIERCING THROUGH THE VEIL OF LIES] CDR PHILIPPINES

The past couple of years have seen the (re) birth of a small but thriving Philippine brutal death-grind movement, which includes a handful of talented and determined bands that if given the chance are capable of putting bigger names to shame. It's also a pity how it still remains virtually unnoticed by the international extreme metal scene. One of the deadliest examples of modern "Flip" brutality is this latest four songs offering from Down From The Wound. Its opening track creeps out from behind the intro sample, proceeds to grab you by the neck, and pulls you into the midst of an all out drum massacre. Then the initial assault is all over in under a minute. At first I thought this was going to be like their previous grindcore influenced releases, but by the middle of the second song, one notices a vast improvement in the way songs are structured. There are more parts, more things going on, but DFTW still manage to maintain a level of catchiness in each track despite the fact that their still bludgeoning you from all directions. The production is on the raw side but is adequately thick and actually magnifies the intensity level and maintains a live feel. Instruments are still presented with considerable clarity so none of the technical aspects and hooks is lost. Another major change to be noticed is that of the vocal delivery. Gone are the high-pitched screams that peppered DFTWs' previous releases in favor of a guttural straightforward approach, which I guess, suits the material presented here. Check out the cool Dustin Hoffman sample on the fourth and final track; before it dives headfirst into another blazing display of drum abuse and acrobatic fretwork. And just as quickly as it begins, it all suddenly ends. The sign of a great record is its replay value. I'm personally setting this bad boy on continuous play. - Brian for No Bullshit! Zine

SEPTIC SEWER "Cryptic defilement" (Phil) CDR
14track gore/metal from Cavite/Valenzuela Citythis is my second demo from them, and I respect this guys for being active in the scene, and for keeping it raw and d.i.y. still. An2
ANUS DE SATANUS [REHEARSAL DEMO 2005] CDR PHILIPPINES

Totally raw and un-mastered, this bedroom recording by Ron (vocals) and Corix (drums) from Toxemia together with Anto (guitars) of the notorious Chronicore zine, attacks like a homeless person armed with a tetanus inducing rusted knife. It sneaks up at you with Excrements' crawling intro, before pouncing and beating you to the ground with demolition blasts. Mock Crucifixion pulled me in with its "Sabbath as speed metal" speed picking verse lick, into an utterly twisted technical riff break, then climaxes with another Iommi styled hemp fueled groove. In fact even amidst the aforementioned raw sound, the quality and power of the songs (specially the way the guitar riffs are written and executed) are still quite evident. I'm really looking forward to a studio recording from these guys. - Brian

HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED "The nerd, the Idiot and the crybaby" (Phil) CDR
this is a punkska band from Malolos City. Contains seven raw original recorded songs. They've got good material in hand so I say goodluck to this band. I like track #3. but hey, choose your samplers well coz theyre kind of stupid, and irrelevant to your songs. An2

CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER "Saddest goodbye" (Phil) CDR
I got this cd through trade. Contains eleven emotional songs, well their bandname speaks for itself. I am very disappointed seeing their flyer stating their bullshit MTV influences so I say fuck those bands who uses the underground as their stepping stone. You be the judge. An2
PUS VOMIT "Vomit the abdominal pus" (Phil) CDR
I have watch this guys in their live set a few times and their set I see is very tight. I shoud say this band kicks assfrom their drummer Ryan's attacking a powerful technical beats to Louie's high gain Cranium guitar sound with neckbreaking riffs and Marco's aural molesting guttural voice, all equals to a total brutality. Jep Companero
PATHOGEN "Into the subconscious void" (Phil) CDR
This is definitely on the top of my list and is one of my frequently listened-to cd. I really like watching them perform live. The arrangement of their songs impresses me and the guitar sections were so damned excellent. Grab a copy of this 5track deathmetal demo. An2

PUTRIFIED GENETALIA "Promo CD" (Greece) CDR
4track brutaldeath demo. Their music is so damned eerie and sludgy and a bit scary at times, sort of like there's somebody watching you at the back heheheI like their music and I myself bangs my head in my room whenever im listening this cd. An2

REST IN GORE "demo 2004" (Japan) CDR
I thought I was listening to a PusVomit demo coz it sounded like marco on vox. Well expect the same monstrosity of this Japanese band that would leave you gasping for air to breathe. This contains 4songs of pure brutaldeath/gore sickness. An2

INFECTED MALIGNITY "demo 2005" (Japan) CDR
the hellish execution of this 3tracks brutaldeath demo is so fuckin'awesome that I felt like I was runned by a speeding bullettrainthis is another Japanese brutality, pure and uncompromising. An2

GEVOTAIS BORKEN "Murdering your guts (Japan) CDR

Fatnul gave this to me last year and I hope im not late in reviewing this tape demo because this was recorded October2003. this is crust/punk/hardcore with a bit of ska grooves offering from THE KIDS ARE DRUNK, GREENATION, I TRIED TO SAVE THE WORLD FROM MY LIVING ROOM, FREE ADMISSION, and SOCIAL TERMITE an2

ANKYLYM "Instruments" (Russia) CT
Stauropygial Records
experimental punk with some exotic and folk instruments like the Russian vargan, horn or a crimped hose mixed with ska/hardcore elements. I think these guys have drunk way too much vodkas in coming up with this album you'll be in a festive mood once you hear this record coz' cygorix and me had a crazy mid-afternoon frenzy as soon as we played this cassette tape sort of a hilarious laugh coz' this band is fuckin' nuts to record this insanity-driven songs, hahaha!!! DEBODIFIED "Utopia in the eyes of the beast" (USA) CDR
Sevared records
The gods in your imaginary make-believe heaven would be goddamn sick upon hearing the infernal wrath invoked by these btutaldeath metallers. 8 songs of political anti-war agenda comprise this cd. Debodified's drummer also plays for Lust of Decay, so expect the same killer beats. I think they're disbanded now. An2

DEMBONES/DECAPITATED(doubleplay25tracks) (ENGLAND) CDR
FallOut Records
Sort of like a split with 2 thrash/punk 80's bands. The cd cover says this features ex-Discharge guitarist "Bones", which upon hearing the songs in this cd, I find him so damn good. The execution of both bands was so identical you cant say who's who. i don't know if this bands still exist so I got some research work to do. 25 tracks all in all. To all those thrash fanatics out there, add this to your collection. An2

I got blown-off when I move the tracklist to the song I Never Cry, an Alice Cooper original, willie could sing pretty well man! This is one of my old-time favorite song. An2

DECRUSTED [LOOKS LIKE IT'S KILLING TIME AGAIN] CDR - PHILIPPINES

This band are from the ashes of the band Beer Break, notorious band from Zambales now changed their name to Decrusted, I have notice that when they were Beer Break before, they have released a demo called "Brutality of the Kill" and now "Looks Like it's killing time Again" I guess these guys love to kill! And I am scared, hehe! Anyways, Decrusted is now different to Beer Break musically, and lots of changes in their musical styles and actually delivered some brutal shits of technicality when it comes to guitar riffing and the execution of the melody is memorable that actually and no doubt has a Kronos[France] influence in it but still the raw fuckin' grind elements is here to stay, and that's what I like it. - Corix

D.O.A [WAR ON 45, MARCH TO THE END] CD CANADA
Sudden Death Records cascades PO BOX # 43001 Burnaby, B.C. V5G 3HO, Canada

Sudden Death Records presents this classic D.O.A 1982 album. This re-issue is a whole album of an activist songs, 18 punk rockin' great tunes that focuses entirely on the stupidity of war. Upon examining, the lyrics of the songs and song titles itself [Class War, Smash the State, No God/No War, etc.], it's quite evident that they contain concepts of anarchism. I recommend the songs (my personal picks) Masters of War, a Bob Dylan original, and War in the East, a reggae song that reminds me of the Clash, and hey, do I have to mention that Joe Keithley (DOA's vox/guitarist) sounded like Joe Mescalero on this one? All in all, this is an excellent 18 D.O.A's anti-war song to surely march by. An2

JACKAL [LIKE A JACKAL] CD UK

Wllie [Pathogen] would definitely love this 5 track heavy metal stuff. This band sounds like Iron maiden and Judas Priest. Track # 2 starts off with a good power ballad like intro and finished off with a slow-thrashy beat that caught my intention. Hey heavy metal sickos, add this in your collection. An2

NEW SOCIETY OF ANARCHISTS [COME OUT SWINGIN'] CD USA

I think this is their third album. An 11 track punk/hardcore full of energy and angst evident in their track lists, but I kind of get bored listening to this CD coz they all sound the same to me but I like the instrumental track #9. and hey! This is copyrighted / all rights reserved so feel free to pirate once you get hold of a copy, that's the anarchists way! Hahaha! An2

SUBLIMINAL CRUSHER [LIFE DROUGHT] CD ITALY

No doubt this is fuckin' metal core in the veins of Pantera, but no fuckin' dimebag trademark guitar solos hehehebut this band got grooves so I rate them as they are, fuckin' good at  what they do. Fuck! An2

WACO JESUS [THE DESTRUCTION OF COMMERCIAL SCUM] CDR USA

This band is fucking psycho! Shit eating porno grind motherfuckers! This band is fucking sick to the extreme and actually, I like it because this is the kinda shit that could totally destroy commercialism and that's how it used to be, their music has actually had a direction and fucking brutal for me. Better contact these psychos for your shit eating lusts - Corix

DYSTOPYA [ALAMEIDA] CD ITALY

I like this shit man, 6 songs of thrash metal driven cd. The guitarist fuckin' rocks, and the drummers groove would definitely make your head bangs. Tracks # 2 and # 6 are powerful ballads, reminiscent of the 80's vibe. An2

CHRONIC GIG REVIEWS

AURAL MASSACRE 4
HIGHERGROUNDZ BAR, OLONGAPO CITY
NOV.10 2005

What the?!!...its fast approaching 10 in the evening and still nobody wants to play first, good thing we're not on the line-up(in short, sumingit lang), so we played first, DECRUSTED. Next in line was FISTFOUNDATION, and other bands which I missed coz' I went drinking with my buds outsideI returned a bit soggy, and saw marco and Jamie gorgore. Bad thing was PUSVOMIT's not playing..DFTW's set drowned the entire house and their fierce brutality bewildered the metallers which almost ignited a riot when some dumb-ass drunx went egotripping and started pushing violently almost everybody in the moshpit area, luckily they stopped and saved their asses mugged by the crowd..DISSIMULATE's grinding performance went smoothly, so does REVOLT, DRASTIC INTENT, and POWERTOOLS..INFERNALMACHINE, deathmetallheads from Laguna also was present, and worthmentioning was HALFTHEBATTLE, youthcrew from cavite..i was swept off my feet with their repertoire, damn they fuckin'rulewe lost track of time after the gig and retired so damn exhausted..(end) AN2

VITAMIN X "A THRILLA IN MANILA"
CAMP EXTREME SKATEPARK,CUBAO
NOV25,2005

Sounds like a boxing match but don't be confused, this is Vitamin X's Phil.Tour, a political hardcoreband from Poland (just correct me if im wrong), with 7 supporting local pinoibands. Countless hours of traveling alone from Zambales to Cubao was quite boring, and finding the gigsite adds moreafter paying the entrancefee and pushing my way thru the crowd, I see old friends present, that lightened me up It was HALFTHEBATTLE's set, they were busy exhausting the moshers' energy and on the same time I was banging my head on the top of the ramp at the opposite side of the park where I haD A bird's eyeview of the whole event..i spotted Gerald and franz of THE ISTUKAS OVER DISNEYLAND sitting at the same ramp sweating, too bad I missed their set..bottles of brandy and booze came in fullcircle, and I too, started to sweat..next was CHOKE COCOI, and ill be damned, the female vox ripped everybody's ear off, what a tight performancePLAY played next but I had not watched them coz' I looked for eman(delusion of terror). THE BEAUTY OF DOUBT set fueled almost all of the scenesters to mosh, and their anthemic song "AMPAONARCHIST" ignited the whole flock to sing along.. Lo and Behold! The mighty punkrock lives! Two thumbs up for this bandLast was Vitamin X, yes you read it right, they played their new tunes but my ears wanted to hear their old stuffs, and then to my hearts content, they did "SEE THRU THEIR LIES", a personal favorite, whoa!that does it I heard a story that some asswipe threw a crumpled paper to the drummer, and I felt saddened about this. Funny how SXE, drunkbastards, stoners, and the likes could get along in such gigs, sum it up and everything all just goes down to music, plain and simple the gig ended before midnight and my ass is pushing me to go to Malate where another gig was taking place, but hell, I went straight to my aunt's house in Makati and slept discontedly kasi bitin yung gigtapos.  AN2

? (EVERYBODY GOT BALLISTIC DRUNK)
VOICETOWNBAR, VALENZUELA CITY
NOV26,2005

A terrible headache did not stopped me from going to Valenzuela. I hooked up with Toxemia's hooligans and found ourselves in the comfort of SepticSewer's Nikos' room, a warzone of pure mess hehehe.a hotmeal was served and a finale of a local brandy was passed, that definitely started my veins pumping. A local rosary group was beginning to chant outside and as if on cue, The Pathogen guys appeared. At 9pm we were positioned at the farside of VoicetownBar watching those boring cover bands. A set of wannabe's and the audience singing along on every number pisses us off so we decided to drink outside.. booze rained that night and almost all of us went ballistic drunkthe boring gig changed when VEX (grindcore) took the stage with a vengeance, BUGONG (blackmetal) was good at what they do, and then came in PATHOGEN. I was thrown-off in time, thinking about those old-school deathmetalbands I grew up listening to all hailz to these guys next was TOXEMIA (grindcore) and it was a privilege to play bass with them. Drunken bastards started to slam and bang their heads, pushing chairs and tables in the corner to have more space. I saw a guy, a longhaired andre the giant, he was so fucking huge and could easily squash anybody's head off with one quick move uh! I felt sorry for those who fell victim to his sinister slamming tactics hehehelast to play was SEPTIC SEWER and it was already 4am, so after their set we went straight to Janus' house and have our free breakfast served, salamat! BLACKSHADOWS PRODUCTION
VOICETOWN BAR, VALENZUELA CITY
DEC10,2005

Same thing happened, we found ourselves at nikos'room but this time, rain was falling outside and I felt quite sleepy. At 9pm we have positioned ourselves at a different place, a more cozy spot in VoiceTownBar... I dozed off a few times, waiting for the show to start. Firstband was a conotic band, and I've been wandering, are we in the right place? Looking at the audiences who looked flashy in their expensive signature clothes did not help. We were summoned by the master showman a.k.a. kuya germs wannabe, and we played next ANUSDESATANUS (a sydproject w/ corix and ron of Toxemia) somebody informed us that we are only entitled to play 2 songs coz we have to pay 60bucks first, PAY2PLAY? Asshooles!!!!damnmotherfuckers!!!!!! we finished quick and was so fucking dismayed. We then decided to just get stoned that nightPATHOGEN's set was still great I got goose bumps when a blackmetalband took the stage. I shook my head no! that's not KISS on make-up, im just on a fucking circus ride, an outer space intergalactic lunacy, but hey, they're not aliens right? I was so fucking stoned I felt like screaming and then the guitar went krangkrangkrang, the bass krangkrangkrang, the drums went chachacha, and the vocalist just hid his face banging his head towards the stagefloorfuck! Im getting delusional so I smoked more to calm myself, whoa that does itTOXEMIA declined to play that night, so next was SEPTICSEWER. PAGANFIRE was there and they unleash their thrashmetal songs and finished off smooth. Afterwhich we decided to went straight home, back at Nikos' roomalcohol, weed, videos, bed, stoned, snore, zzzzzzz. FOODNOTBOMBS-MANILA
FREEDOMBAR, QUEZON CITY
Jan12,2006

I departed in Zambales at about 4pm and was in Manila at 8:30pm, I hooked up with Cygorix (psychoman of NBZine) and off we went to FreedomBar, a jeepney ride from Cubao,Edsawe drunk a bottle of gin and munched on hardboiled peanuts outside we went in and a band was almost finished, next were FORGIVENESS DENIED, ISHMA, and FEUD, hardcore bands from Cavite. I spotted Eazy of HalftheBattle, and my assumption led to dismay upon knowing that they're not on the bill that night. STANDFAST performance was pleasing to my ears, they reminded me of oldschool 80's SONICYOUTH's Kim Gordon on vocals, which by the way sounded very much like Anti-Schism, and Anti-ProductLast group was DEATHWISHKIDS, with their eccentric ala porkchop joker on vocals, too bad we cant get along with his private jokes, but hell, they have a very excellent set, which is very NOT4SALE style. Much respect to my dear friend Ben. Corix romances his digital camera and took pictures of his crush ahem! And our good mood turned the other way around when a heated argument on different FNB-groups arise, uhuh that's it, time for us to leave. (end) AN2

AURAL MASSACRE 5
RIMERS COVEREDCOURT, OLONGAPO CITY
MARCH 04,2006

The original date of this gig was last Feb25, but because of venue problems, it was rescheduled. The site was awesome, but the ambience that night was gloomy for me, so I sought refuge on getting stoned again. The band line-up was very tight, with DFTW's brutal set, grindindheads CERBERUS,DISSIMULATE, and DECRUSTED, thrashmetals DRASTIC INTENT, and ANNIHULUS of Pampanga, metalcore POWERTOOLS, FORESTTROLLS OF SATAN, and others which names I don't know like That screamo band which is fucking irritating because of the guitarists exaggerated very very very loud sound, others were complaining about this but he doesn't seem to mind coz I think he's a fuckin asshole, and assholes are so fuckin'egotistical so that's it, he reigned that night. And damn, the scenesters turned the moshpit area into a kickboxing arena with karate chops on the sideline, whoa! Wrestling anyone? (end) AN2
